Privacy Policy

ClipRecap turns videos and lecture recordings into notes and ideas to review. This page says what we collect to do that, who handles it on our behalf, and how you remove it.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password, which is stored hashed by our sign-in provider. We never see it.
- What you add: video files you upload, lectures you record in the app, and the YouTube links you submit. For a YouTube link we download a copy of the video to process it.
- What we make from it: transcripts, notes, ideas, quizzes, thumbnails, and your collections, tags and review history.
- Usage: how many minutes of video you have recapped each month, so plan limits work.
- Notifications: if you turn them on, the token your browser or phone gives us to send them.
- Payments: if you subscribe, our payment provider collects your card details. We receive your plan, its status and renewal date, not your card number.
We don't run advertising or third-party analytics trackers. The only thing stored in your browser is what keeps you signed in.
How we use it
- To make your recaps and show them to you on your devices.
- To schedule your reviews and send the reminders you asked for.
- To apply your plan's limits and take payment.
- To fix problems and keep the service secure.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use your content to train AI models.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase runs sign-in and stores your email and hashed password.
- Hetzner hosts our servers and database. Vercel hosts the website.
- Cloudflare R2 stores video and audio files.
- OpenRouter, and the AI model providers it routes to, receive the audio of your videos to transcribe them and the transcript to write notes, ideas and quizzes. Their handling is governed by their own terms.
- Stripe handles payments.
- Expo, Apple and Google deliver push notifications.
Some of these providers process data outside your country.
Sharing
Your recaps are private. A recap becomes public only if you turn on sharing for it; the public page shows its title, summary and ideas, never the transcript or anything about your account. Turn sharing off and the page stops working.
Keeping and deleting
- We keep your content until you delete it.
- Deleting a recap removes it from your account and deletes its video or audio file from our storage straight away. Its notes are erased when you delete your account.
- Deleting your account, under Plan & usage, removes your recaps, files, review history and sign-in, and cancels any subscription. It can't be undone.
- Encrypted database backups can hold deleted data until they are replaced by newer ones.
- Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires.
Your choices
You can export any recap as Markdown, delete recaps or your whole account in the app, and turn notifications off at any time. To ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to object to how we use it, email support@cliprecap.com. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
ClipRecap is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
